We reminisced about all the great times we had had so far during our stay. The breathtaking views we had taken in, the cultures we had explored, the various people we had interacted with, the delicious food we had tasted and the crazy adventures we had embarked on. It was at that exact moment, I felt genuine happiness, REAL heart-fulfilling happiness. I hadn’t felt this way in a while. I guess life can get a little overwhelming at times, so much that we forget to actually enjoy and live our lives. This year I vouched to myself that I would do more of what I love, travelling being one.
Although I have been lucky enough to travel to many places from a very young age, it is only now that I am starting to really understand the importance of travelling.
Travel is important because…
Travel gives you a sense of freedom, each day is a new adventure and each turn creates a new memory. Okay, so you all need money to live and most of you are working hard towards your dream careers, but sometimes you get so caught up on materialistic things. Would you rather be of old age sitting amongst materialistic things yet with no stories to tell and no memories to reminisce on, or would you rather have had a life full of adventures and no regrets?
Travel broadens your mind, it allows you to interact with people of all walks of life, experience other cultures and visit places that you only thought existed on television.
Travel opens your eyes and challenges your conceptions of conventional living. It makes you experience such things that question why you cannot experience as such forever. Imagine being able to live by your own means? Extraordinary living.
Travel helps you to move forward in life. Whether you are going through a huge transition or a slight change, travel helps you reflect on where you have been and gives you an opportunity to think about where you are heading or where you would like to end up. With that being said, travel helps you to learn who you are and what you really want in life. Things that I once thought I wanted, I realised were not for me, and travel gave me the opportunity to realise that.
Travel allows you to discover and take pleasure in the simple joys of nature. The world is such a beautiful place and is there to be explored.
Not all of you will agree with my above reasoning. Some say they want to make money first, buy a house or “make it” in their chosen career before they travel to their dream destinations. However, old age isn’t promised and who is to say that you will get the same opportunity to travel later on in life?
“Travel. As much as you can. As far as you can. As long as you can. Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.”- Unknown.
May your life be full of adventures. Love always, G. x
